FRISCO, TX –
The Texas Revolution is bringing the battle to Frisco and have signed their first wave of players since league free agency began October 1. The following is a summary of those signings, headlined by Frankie Solomon Jr., the team’s all-time leader in total tackles (303) and interceptions (25). Solomon was third in the CIF in tackles per game last season (7.8) and fifth in interception return yards (111).
NEWCOMERS: Tyler Genuser, Philly Conttrell, Jason Stephenson, Rashad Gayden, Thailand Price
Genuser (QB, NM Highlands) spent last season in Sioux City, leading the Bandits to the Northern Conference Final against the Omaha Beef. Genuser was fourth in the league in completion percentage (63.6%) and sixth in pass efficiency.
Conttrell (DL, Langston Univ.) played in six games for the Centex Cavalry in 2017 on their defensive line, collecting a sack.
Stephenson (WR, East Central Univ.) played in three games for the Salina Liberty last year, where he racked up 70 yards on 6 catches. His 11.7 yards per catch was tops on the team.
Gayden (DL/LB, San Jose State) saw some time in Bismarck last season with the CIF’s Bucks.
ROOKIES: Derrick Johnson, Kyle Castilleja, James Tripplet, Mitchell Grimes
Johnson played at nearby Texas A&M Commerce, while Castilleja is coming north from his playing days at Southwestern University. James Tripplet (Stephen F. Austin) and Mitchell Grimes (Southwestern A&G) also played college ball in the Lone Star state.
