ALLEN, TEXAS – The Texas Revolution professional indoor football team have announced former Dallas Cowboy, Wendell Davis as the teams new Head Coach and Director of Football Operations.

Drafted from the University of Oklahoma, Davis was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 1996 NFL Draft. After suffering a devastating knee injury ending his ’98 campaign; Davis finished the 1999 season with the Dallas Cowboys that ended his four-year career playing in a total of 34 NFL games.

In 2000, Wendell was drafted as the 134th player by the San Francisco Demons of the XFL in their inaugural draft.  He played all 10 games in the XFL’s only season, finishing with 21 tackles and 1 interception.  He went to training camp that same year with the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders. Wendell then joined the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League in 2002, where he won two Arena Bowl Championships (2002,2004). Davis hung up his cleats in 2006 after playing for the Arizona Rattlers (AFL) and began his coaching career.

Going back to his roots, Davis started coaching at Wichita North High School and quickly moved on to Coffeyville Community College where he played before transferring to OU. Professionally he coached with the Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football league, and most recently the San Antonio Talons (AFL). The Revolution in conjunction with Top Golf – Allen, Heroes Project, Honor Courage Commitment, Kings Coach and several other notable partners will be hosting and transporting 50 Veterans from the VA Hospital in Dallas, Texas to the Allen Event Center to take part in the game and activities. The Revs also expect more than 250 active duty personal from the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, Texas to be in attendance and will be swearing in 80 newly enlisted Marines during halftime.

The Revolution have also conceived the idea to align themselves with a new venture. Realizing that Veterans returning from combat or even just being honorably discharged from the military with no combat experience has pressures of returning to civilian life. “being gainfully employed is hard for anyone in the current economy, but considerably more for the these men and women who serve our country.” states Mathew Lunsford, Director of Communications for the Revolution. Thus, the Revolution have invited companies, aiming to hire Veterans, to participate in a job fair on the concourse of the Allen Event Center during their game. “Each committed booth space directly relates to 50 tickets being given to Veterans who have the option to bring resumes and credentials to hopefully gain employment while viewing a stellar athletic event in a big time venue” said Tommy Benizio, President of the Revolution.

In the same frame, the Texas Revolution would like to give every option for a Veteran or service member to attend the game and bring family and friends. The Revolution are accepting donations at several levels to purchase tickets to be distributed by VET TIX allowing American Servicemen and Veterans to enjoy the game and this event with loved ones.
